About the instructor:

With no agricultural experience prior to purchasing her Soddy Daisy farm in 2016, Jessie Gantt-Temple grew Feathers & Fruit from six blueberry bushes to almost 30 and caring for over 200 chickens. Her husband, Robert, grew up on a farm, so with his support and knowledge, she has now been a successful chicken and orchard farmer for seven years supplying places like Lupi’s & St. John’s. She is currently the Main St. Farmers Market President and has been since 2019, shortly after she left a five-year Crabtree Farms’ workshare partnership. Once elbow deep in the local food community, Jessie found that many farmers suffered from excess crops so she began canning to help decrease waste and preserve good food. Teaching her classes since 2019, Jessie ensures her teaching method will provide you with the knowledge and confidence to successfully preserve in your own home. She also has a Bachelor’s in Journalism, was Assistant Editor of The Pulse, a radio disc jockey, liquor rep, and roller derby player so she is gregarious to say the least.
